Click an area, then add or erase with the brush. Natural keeps shading. Flat is for logos. Hair is not supported. Free files stay on your device, with the long edge at most 1600px and no watermark.

Three steps

How to change image color

You can change the color of an image in three steps. There is no layer mask and no desktop install. The free image color changer recolors the area you select and leaves the rest of the picture alone. The pictures below walk through the same three steps.

Screenshot of step 1 to change the color of an image: a red hoodie photo dropped into the upload area as red-hoodie.jpg
Step 1: drop a JPG, PNG, or WebP into the upload area.

1. Upload the picture

Open a JPG, PNG, or WebP you already have: a phone snapshot, a product shot, a room, or a logo. Drop it on the tool or browse for it. The free recolor runs in your browser, on your device, so you can recolor an image without uploading it.

Screenshot of step 2: the red hoodie selected with one click and the Hex field set to #0F7C80 to recolor the image
Step 2: click the hoodie and set the Hex to #0F7C80.

2. Click the area and set the Hex

Click the shirt, wall, car body, or logo shape that should change. This version does not recolor hair. Set the color with the picker or paste a Hex code. #0F7C80 is the teal hoodie, #1F2A44 the navy tee, #C0694B the terracotta wall, and #1E4FD8 the cobalt car. The edit uses that code.

A Hex value is flat, and a photograph is not. The code lands on the midtones, while highlights stay lighter and shadows stay deeper. Sample a midtone, or paste the brand Hex, then judge the object rather than the little swatch.

Screenshot of step 3: the hoodie recolored to teal and ready to download as a free PNG with no watermark
Step 3: download the recolored PNG with no watermark.

3. Download with no watermark

Download when the color looks right. The free PNG has no watermark, does not ask for an account, and keeps the long edge at 1600 pixels or less. HD keeps the original size. AI Refine is a separate edit of that same selection.

This is a pixel recolor, not a generative repaint. It changes the selected pixels instead of inventing a new object, which is why texture and shadows can survive.

Sample results

Change the color of an image for clothes, products, rooms, and cars

An image color changer only helps if the picture still looks like a photograph. These four pairs are samples of that edit: one area moved to an exact Hex, everything else left alone, so you can judge the color, the texture, and what was not touched.

Fashion and clothes

Teal #0F7C80

The fleece keeps its nap, the pocket keeps its shadow, and the cuffs still catch light. Skin, hair, and denim stay put, so you can try a clothing color without another photoshoot.

Mustard yellow crew-neck t-shirt laid flat on white, a product photo before the color changeNavy product color variant made with an image color changer: the same t-shirt recolored to #1F2A44, stitching and shadow kept

E-commerce product variants

Navy #1F2A44

One studio shot can stand in for the next colorway. Collar rib, sleeve hem, and the shadow under the shirt stay, so the navy still looks like the same tee. When you need to change color of image files before the samples arrive, start here, then replace the mockup with a photo of the real garment.

Living room with a sage green accent wall, gray sofa, wood table, and a plant, before recoloring the wallThe same living room after recoloring the image: the wall is terracotta #C0694B, furniture and sunlight unchanged

Interior walls

Terracotta #C0694B

Paint is expensive to undo. You can recolor image areas that are wall and keep the furniture. The sofa, table, plant, art, and the sunlight stay, so you can see terracotta at the size of the wall. It will not replace a fan deck held against the plaster.

White compact hatchback parked on an open lot at sunset, before changing the car color in the photoThe same hatchback with its paint recolored to cobalt blue #1E4FD8; glass, lights, and wheels unchanged

Cars and other large objects

Cobalt #1E4FD8

Panel gaps, glass, lights, and the grille stay themselves, and the highlight still runs along the hood. That is paint, not a flat fill. The same edit works for a bike, a door, or furniture: select the body color and leave metal, glass, and the background alone.

Whether you change the color of a photo or a product image, check fine edges, such as hair against a collar or a plant against a wall, at full size. If color spills, select a tighter area and run it again.

What you can count on

Why this image color changer keeps the picture honest

  • Exact Hex color

Type #1E4FD8 and the selected area moves to that value. Paste a brand sheet or a client note as six digits, instead of choosing an unnamed preset.

  • Texture and shadows stay

Selected pixels shift color. They are not covered by a flat sticker, so knit, denim, plaster, and clearcoat keep their highlights and creases.

  • No watermark

The download is the image. There is no logo in the corner to crop off, on the free file or on an HD file.

  • Full-quality free download

Free mode saves a real PNG with the long edge at most 1600 pixels, not a watermarked preview and not a tiny thumbnail. Change picture color, check it, and save it before you decide you need the original size.

  • Private, in the browser

The free recolor runs on your device and is not uploaded. There is no account to try a color, and the page does not put your photo in a public gallery. AI Refine sends the picture and the selection to the server for one edit, then finishes the exact color in the browser.

  • HD when the job gets bigger

Original-size export and AI Refine for the same selection are the upgrade. The color rules stay the same.

Free and HD

Recolor images for free, or export in HD

Change picture color for free when one area, one Hex, and a file up to 1600 pixels on the long edge are enough. HD keeps the original size. AI Refine is one server edit of the same selection, then the exact color is finished in the browser.

FAQ

Questions about how to change picture color

Is it free to change image color?

Yes. Recolor a selected area to an exact Hex color and download a PNG with no watermark and no account. Free mode keeps the long edge at 1600 pixels or less. HD keeps the original size. AI Refine is a separate edit and is not part of the free download.

Will the download have a watermark?

No. Free and HD downloads are saved without a watermark, a tool logo, or a credit line.

How do I change the color of a PNG or a logo?

Upload the PNG and click the shape you want to change. Transparency outside that shape stays transparent, which is what a logo on a colored page needs. Set the brand Hex and check the edges at full size, especially if the mark has a gradient.

Will texture and shadows be kept?

Yes. Grain, creases, and soft shadows inside the selection remain, because they are the same pixels in a new color. A face, plant, sky, or type you did not select is not repainted. If a fine edge picks up a neighbor, tighten the area and run it again.

Which image formats can I recolor?

JPG, PNG, and WebP. Use JPG or WebP for photographs. Use PNG when you need transparency, including logos that sit on another background.

Can I match an exact Hex code?

Yes. Paste a six-digit code such as #C0694B, or use the picker and read the Hex it shows. The selected area is recolored to that code.

How do I change only one part of a picture?

Click the garment, wall, panel, or logo shape and leave the rest. If two objects share a color and both shift, the selection was wider than the object. Choose the tighter area.

Does this work on a phone?

Yes. Upload from your camera roll, tap the area, enter the Hex, and download. A larger screen makes edges easier to judge, but a phone browser is enough.

Are my photos sent to a server?

The free recolor runs in your browser and is not uploaded. AI Refine sends the picture and the selection to the server for one edit, then finishes the exact color in the browser. This page does not publish your upload.

What does the HD upgrade add?

The same exact-Hex recolor, still without a watermark, at the original size. AI Refine adds one server edit of the selection before that color correction.
